The FTX Banzai is an entry level 1/10 on road car that represents a great value for money RTR car. The question is, is it any good?

 

The car comes RTR so includes everything (bar some AA batteries) to get you up and going. Get home with the car, put the nimh battery on charge, and off you can go and have some sideways fun!

 

One thing a number of people won’t particularly like with the Banzai is the look of the body and the fake sponsor logos on the car. I completely understand that, however at this price point I always think of the body that comes with the car as one to damage and get a second 1/10 touring body to make a big difference to the look of the car. The prices FTX would have to pay sponsors etc to make an official body would mean that the Banzai would be a much more expensive car to buy, and I think it’s better to do what they have as not everyone is going to like the same body anyway. 

Out the box, the car is great fun to drive on the plastic tyres and the brushed motor is enough to give you some sideways fun. 

 

The great thing with FTX is that they have made a number of upgrade parts available for the Banzai, which I have done a separate article on. They really do make a massive difference to the look of the car. One thing I do like about FTX however, and is a key point I always make to customers on the phone or in store, is that parts are very very cheap for the FTX range of cars, and we have around 90% of parts in our warehouse. If we don’t and the suppliers have the part, it is usually with us within 2 or 3 working days which means usually you have parts to replace or upgrade on your car within days, and not weeks.

While I have gone a few levels up with my Banzai adding all the carbon and aluminium parts available, and also replacing the brushed motor and esc with a brushless system, I would still recommend the Banzai as out the box you are getting a cracking piece of kit.

The best thing to do is buy a Banzai and find out for yourself what you have been missing out on!
