With The RS4 creator edition being used as a bit of a high speed run car It was essential I installed the HPI high speed gear set, I also decided to install the aluminium center driveshaft whilst I was at it. Weighing only 12 grams compared to the stock 35 grams this will allow the drivetrain to spin up faster meaning better acceleration and improved braking!

First thing to do is remove all of the screws as shown below using a 2.0mm driver ( I am using the Fast617 driver set )

This will expose the center driveshaft spur gear

before you remove the center driveshaft you will need to remove the aluminium steering link that attaches the two steering posts, once this is detached you can remove the driveshaft.

Now simply remove the indipendant bearings and spacers along with the spur gear mount from the stock shaft and start swapping onto the new aluminium shaft, just be sure they are correctly installed.

The sprur gear simply has 4 small scres holding it to the holder, just remove these using a 2.0mm drive and then re install the new high speed pinion gear.

Onbce this is assembled simply click back into the chassis and re install the steering link and the chassis cover plate and you finished, overall this is an easy upgrade that takes minimum effort and should yeild some great results when im ready to hit the tarmac!
