Where do my receiver cables go?

This article is a brief description on where receiver cables plug in and which way they fit , as a shop that helps many customers with tech tips one thing that crops up quite often is problems when changing a receiver, servo or esc and having problems that the steering or throttle or both do not work.
There are some simple tips on how to get this right , on most rc cars the receiver will have at least 2 channels and usually they will be numbered and come with a key that show positive, negative and signal wire positions , however as receivers get smaller this is much harder to see especially for the more mature user.
As a general rule channel 1 is always steering and channel 2 is always esc (or on nitro throttle servo).
Second rule of thumb is which way the plugs go into the receiver , this is always the same so the negative wire on the servo or esc cable is always on the edge of the receiver (see attached image).
This seems to be the most common problem people have when modifying or changing esc's, servos or receivers.
