TT-02 Buying Guide

Hey guys, I have not made any secrets about my love for the Tamiya brand. Yes in their stock form they are weak, yes they are slow, and yes they are expensive for what you get when compared to something like the FTX Banzai…but there is just something about them that is unique.

I was born in the 1980’s and Tamiya is the R/C brand that reminds me of building and bashing cars with my dad and saving up my pocket money and Christmas money to get the latest kit. My first kit was a TL01 Alfa 155 with the original servo operated sliding speed controller.

I thought it was the fastest thing ever and was gutted when I broke it against a bin in the park, until my dad helped me repair it. I have loved this hobby ever since and for that reason I think Tamiya will always be my favourite maker of R/C cars.

Just for my fellow TT-02 enthusiasts I have made a little table of contents going through the different model variants and what you get for the money.

I also hope you have enjoyed following my build. For the time being it will remain a 50-60mph basher, but plans could change in the future and I may make it a speed run car and try to crack 100mph. We will see what is possible.

Use this to give yourself a quick idea of which model to get depending what parts you value the most.

Please bear in mind that Tamiya likes to change stuff from time to time. This table is correct as of 26/09/22.
