Tamiya TT02 10x2 conversion

After my speed run results with both brushed and brushless motor setups in the Schumacher, I really believe that the brushed motor is a very similar RPM to its more efficient newer rival.

One downside of the Mission is that being FWD you cannot just mash the throttle and expect it to shoot off as it will spin its wheels quite a lot. You have to drive it slightly differently. I wanted to see what the LRP 10x2 was capable of when it had a 4wd platform to put all the power down straight away. While it does not handle even remotely as well, a TT-02 should show the speed of the motor well being 4wd.

With its old setup in there. 15t brushed and Hobbywing 1060 ESC.

Old motor out and the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount.

The 15t setup was running a 64/32 ratio but with 48 pitch gears but this proved to be hard on the motor (it got very hot). I will be going back to Tamiya standard 0.8 mod gears for now with a 64/25 ratio.

New spur bolted to speed gear adapter.

Back in the car and diffs re-greased.

You can tell which one is the stronger of the two.

I got a nice extra upgrade for the car - Radio Link set. This is actually an upgrade for all of them as it has multi model memory so I want to use one transmitter for all of my cars. The range is also fantastic on this set (approx 400 metres).

Electrics nearly all in. Added the low profile Etronix servo as the ESC is massive. Still managed to tidy up the wires nicely though.

The last job is to tighten up the front differential. I wanted to lock it completely but couldn’t find my diff locking block so just decided to try some old diff grease I had that is a lot thicker than the Tamiya grease.

Grease in and it is ready to seal back up. This should hopefully improve traction.
