Sky RC GNSS unboxing

#KB138

I have decided to record all of my car’s true speeds. Everyone likes to brag that their car is x mph but rarely has the data to prove it. This handy little bit of kit allows you to do just that.

The items included are the manual, performance tester and the USB charge cable.

The first thing needed will be a good charge. It has a small on-board lipo battery and it immediately switches itself off whenever I try to turn it on, so must need some juice.

The left light is just the main power light, the middle one is the satellite signal light, and the right one is the bluetooth.

The device seems to have a ‘go to sleep’ function built in as when it is not plugged in to the USB it quite quickly just turns off all of its lights, probably to conserve power.

The only time it lights up is when either you plug it in to the charger, or try to connect to it from your device - the picture above is when it is just plugged in to charge. It would seem that the satellite signal is only established when it is connected to your phone. As you can see above the satellite signal light is dark.

In this picture I unplugged the charger lead from the computer and also tried to briefly connect via Bluetooth on my phone.

As you can see the device is now finding its satellite signal.

As you can see from the small manual, you can not only measure a car's top speed, but also acceleration, G-Force, distance covered, and time spent driving.

It looks like a much more advanced bit of kit than the manual speed tester, despite being pretty much the same price.

I will look forward to giving it a few runs (picture of it test-fitted in a car).
