Hobbywing OTA Programmer information

Hobbywing has a few different items for programming an ESC/motor. The first and most basic one is the LED program card.

Very basic and calculator looking - it can be used to compatible combos to set ESC parameters. The newer combos will not be compatible with this item.

The more expensive LCD programming card works on pretty much all of the newest combos and has more settings that you can change. It is a great choice for racers.

There is one more option you can use that will have all of the functionality of the LCD box, but can be programmed through the app on your phone and it can be left onboard your car!

It is the OTA programming module. This small bit of kit allows you to make instant adjustments to the way your car drives at the tap of a button on your phone.

It connects via bluetooth and is super easy to program to your preferred settings.

Let's give it a try!

First thing to do is to download the app. Once downloaded you can turn on your bluetooth and connect to the programmer in the same way you would with a bluetooth speaker.

Alway connect via bluetooth as this allows the devices to talk to each other wherever you are. The programmer and your phone need to be ideally no more than a metre apart for the best signal strength.

The device will have a name beginning with HW and a few random digits. This can be renamed if you choose.

Once the devices are connected and talking - you can set the parameters you want to change.

As you can see there are a few things that can be changed to suit your driving preferences. Perfect for racing - I need to turn the brake force down on my car.

Set from the factory to 87.5% which is just much too high. I’m pretty sure this is what killed the gears in my TT-02b.

I changed it to 50% and the car was much more controllable under braking.

Finally I decided to do a software update to the latest version. My Max10 combo is a gen1 so can be updated.
