The Rival MT10.... Loved by most RC enthusiasts for its tough build and great performance, but as we have touched on in the past like any RC model it is not indestructible! One of the common parts we see people damage when bashing the MT10 is the servo horn that is plastic as standard, whilst this is suitable for general use it will often take a lot of punishment and eventually crack or snap.

However there is no need to worry, Fastrax have you covered with this aluminium upgrade servo horn that we are going to walk through installing today!

As you can see, my current servo horn is not broken ( woop woop ) however i suspect it is only a matter of time and the worst thing in the world is planning to go out bashing and then having to cut the session off to go home due to a broken car. So Let's get this changed.

For this job you only need a 2mm hex driver...... That's it!

Start by removing the screw shown that attached the steering link to the servo horn.

Once that is removed move on to the servo horn screw as pictured above, once the screw is out you may need to wobble the horn from the servo as they are a tight fit.

Now an important step that a lot of people will overlook, power your transmitter on, then power the model on. The crucial part, make sure the trim is set to neutral to avoid the tracking being out when you install the new horn. ( this is a very important step so be sure to do this )

Comparison of the standard versus the Fastrax upgrade horn.

Now line the servo horn up as straight as you can on the servo splines,This will never be 100% straight due to how the splines are cut but try to get it as close as possible. Once that is done use one of the new provided screws to attach the horn to the servo.

The last step is refit the steering link to the servo horn using the provided screw, Once this is attached you are all done!

SIMPLES!!

After you have finished you may need to fine tune the steering trim from the handset due the mentioned centering tolerance. Now that this is installed I should be able to go and bash until my heart in content and not have to worry about the servo horn stopping play so it really is a worth while upgrade!

I hope this article has helped you, stay tuned for more :)
