The Modular unit in my Grandsons 12kt seems dead (car is approx 3 yrs old) but the replacement module in the catalogue seems to have a different switch in the lead out wires. Is this still compatible?

I'd imagine it will work fine if it's just the switch or connectors that are different.  But we couldn't be 100% sure.

Quite likely... if it's the same part number as listed in your manual then yes it should work.
