The creator of the Porter, H.K. Porter from the USA started off as
Smith and Porter in 1866 with an annual production at the time of 15 to
25 locomotives. Under the exclusive management of H.K. Porter from
1878, this period finally showed activity, and the annual production
reached 125
locomotives. Although many locomotives for agriculture and mining were
manufactured, demand dwindled after World War II and the factory closed
in 1953. According to the records for 1950, approximately 8,300
locomotives were manufactured. The Porter illustrates the style of
America's classic locomotive with its distinctive large smokestack and
cowcatcher.
This model is an accurate reproduction of the famous Porter Mogul
locomotive that was used on the railroads which operated in the
American West.
OS's reproduction is highly detailed and has running gear which is
authentic in every respect.
