With a watercooled marine engine, a water scoop is an essential fitting. In fact, many of the newer high performance electric motors are now fitted with a water jacket to ensure efficient operation at the correct temperature. The water scoop is normally mounted through the bottom of the hull at the stern with the outlet through the hull side or transom.
