FTX SURGE 1/12 BRUSHED TRUGGY READY-RO-RUN (GREEN)

The SURGE is the latest addition to the entry level range of r/c vehicles from FTX. With four different models centred around a shaft driven 4wd chassis platform, there is a SURGE for every off road r/c nut.

Combining the features of a truck and buggy, the FTX Truggy is ready to rip around your local area.  Featuring a custom finished low profile aggressively styled bodyshell, rear spoiler and race treaded low profile tyres mounted on wide offset spoked wheels, the Surge Truggy looks quick before you even get started!

Factory pre-assembled, the Surge Truggy just requires you to charge the Li-Ion battery and add some AA batteries for the 2.4ghz radio for you to be ready to tackle what lies ahead. A ball bearing supported, shaft driven 4wd transmission with geared differentials provides great drive-ability on most surfaces, and while the high quality aluminium oil filled shock absorbers soak up the bumps and jumps. Battery access is a simple affair via the hinged bottom loading battery cover, with the electronic speed control and brushed motor providing excellent scale speed.

Buggy, truggy and muscle = the Surge Truggy!

With a sub £100 price, the SURGE range is ideal for first time r/c fans who want more than just a toy grade model. Each model features some superb detailing and custom finshed bodyshells. Power and control is provided by a 2.4ghz radio system and electronic speed control, while a Li-Ion battery powers the brushed motor for excellent scale speed. In addition the ball bearing supported, shaft driven 4wd system and metal oil filled shock absorbers are something not seen on similar vehicles within this price bracket.

Could you tell me how long battery will run for and how long to charge on the ftx surge truggy thanks
Asked by Jason Goodhead on 12th November 2016

The battery will last around 15 minutes or so, depending on how you use the car. Charge time is around 2 hours.

There is a local track that i go to, the recommended size of rc is 1/10 but since this is 4wd could i use it there? Would it perform well?
Asked by Ashton Khan on 10th March 2017
You'd need to check with your local club to see if they would allow you to run this.

What size is the battery compartment? Could I fit upgraded stick batteries inside ?
Asked by Carl Holden on 16th April 2017
We'd recommend sticking with the original Lithium battery - it's a decent spec and gives good runtime and performance.

Can the Mt body fit the truggy
Asked by Garry Woodley on 23rd May 2017

Yes, that should fit - you may require the mounts from the MT.

How fast would this go
Asked by Joe on 24th May 2017

Top speed is around 20mph or so

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Does the control have a variable speed control????
Asked by Tim Blakemore on 30th August 2017

Yes, this is fully proportional - it will only go as fast as you squeeze the trigger!

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Sorry I meant can you restrict the speed as it will be a first r/c car for a 5yo I'm sure I saw on another car listed that you could restrict it to 50% 75% etc.
Asked by Tim Blakemore on 31st August 2017

There's no set feature for this (unlike for example, Traxxas models which have a training mode). However - we have seen several customers attach a small block of blu-tack or similar behind the trigger, which is a quick and easy method to reduce the possible maximum speed.

Am looking to get two "decent" cars for my boys Xmas presents. Fed up with toy shop models breaking, I am looking at the FTX surge truggy and want to ensure that they can play with them simultaneously and without any radio interference to each other's controls. Also can you give an idea of charge time, range and playtime. Thanks for your help,
Asked by Sally Dumbrill on 20th November 2017

Sure.  The FTX Surge is a great car for the money.  There are of course better models available - for example the slightly larger 1:10 models from FTX like the Vantage and Carnage would be the next step up, but they do creep up in price.

Yes, any model like this will run several together with no settings to change and no chance of interference.

The Surge charge time is around 1 hour, and runtime (depending on your driving style!) will be around 15 minutes or so. We do sell spare batteries under part number FTX7265

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Can you get a spare batterys
Asked by Jarrod Lloyd on 1st September 2019

Yes, spare batteries are item FTX7265

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Can this car handle jumps from about 1ft and below?
Asked by Mason on 16th September 2019

Jumps don't hurt - it's the landings that does!

A small jump like that should be fine, so long as you land on the wheels and ideally on a downramp.
