1:72 Saturn V with Sky Lab

Dragon’s Space Collection has previously featured a 1/72 scale replica of a Saturn V rocket, and even in this scale it was absolutely enormous. Indeed, the fully built-up model stood 1.5m tall! That model (Item No.50388) sold out very rapidly in late 2011, and underscoring its status as an instant hit, so did a subsequent rerelease of the same model. Now, Dragon has produced a second complete Saturn V rocket in 1:72 scale to cater for those who missed out first time around. This time the model depicts the Saturn V used to launch Skylab into space. Skylab was the USA’s first space station and it orbited the Earth from 1973-79. It included a workshop, solar observatory (Apollo Telescope Mount) and other elements. The unmanned Skylab was launched by a modified Saturn V rocket on 14 May 1973, the last launch by this type of rocket. The station was actually severely damaged during launch but the first crew managed to make repairs. Skylab reentered earth’s atmosphere in 1979 and disintegrated.

Saturn V was the longest, heaviest and most powerful rocket ever produced, with the original standing 110.6m high and having a 10.1m diameter. As impressive as the real Saturn rocket system was, this Space Collection item will draw gasps of astonishment too! The monstrous 1:72 scale rocket comes with brand new toolings for parts like the terminal stage, as this element has a different appearance to previous Saturn Vs. All the relevant detail is carefully reproduced and the completed model comes with accurate painting and markings. The Saturn V is suitable for display as it comes with a stable circular base to allow it to stand on the floor.

Collectors seeking something special, or those wanting a Saturn V variant, will be impressed with this fantastic model!
