The Panzer II, crafted by Germany in the 1930s, marked an advancement from the Panzer I, yet it remained a temporary solution in Germany's pursuit of establishing a potent tank force. Widely deployed in the early campaigns of WWII, including the invasions of Poland, the Low Countries, and France, production of the Panzer II halted by 1943. The Panzer II chassis found new roles as the primary armament, typically the 2cm Kw.K30 L/55 cannon and a coaxial MG34, proved largely ineffective in the anti-tank role. Operated by a crew of three, the light tank's first series-production model, the Ausf.A, debuted in July 1937.
