Is this spur gear the same as the one on the ftx bugsta? Also is there a stronger upgraded one than the factory fitted one please?

Yes, this is also fitted to the Bugsta.

These are plastic.

I'd usually advise sticking with a plastic spur - it's £3 if you break one, and prevents causing problems further down the driveline

No, and I wouldn't recommend one if you can locate one.... Stick to plastic - better to change a £2 gear than risk damaging something harder to replace further down in the drivetrain

does this fit direct with the 17t pinion on a brushless motor? because i keep stripping the teeth?

Yes this is the correct spur for the carnage, we would advise replacing the pinion at the same time and re aligning the motor
